Sermon Series

Why do we Preach in Series?

In accordance with our belief, that the Bible is the supreme authority in all matters of doctrine and practice (Sola Scriptura), our sermons are delivered in a series using expository preaching, explaining the Bible text in context. As John MacArthur explains, expository preaching “makes the authority unequivocal, and that authority is the Scripture. That's very clear no matter how powerful or gifted the preacher might be. In consistent, expository preaching, the people always know what the authority is. It's not about homiletics. It's not about personal viewpoints and insights. It's about relentlessly affirming the true authority of Scripture, which is the most critical thing that anybody can ever learn.”

Additionally, we believe that preaching is not a cold, dry professorial explanation of text, rather it is worship and accordingly agree with John Piper's description: “Preaching is also exultation. This means that the preacher does not just explain what's in the Bible, and the people do not simply try [to] understand what he explains. Rather, the preacher and the people exult over what is in the Bible as it is being explained and applied.”
