John brings the church into the King's cosmic triumph in the first part of chapter five and in so doing he gives us a vivid picture of the cross-work of the Lamb. He then shows us that this is our defining anthem that we sing. At the end of the vision we see what this does to us. John is showing the church that its hope in calamity is that Jesus triumphs in grace and as the church is defined by that it then inevitably responds. (Re 5:11-14)
