Jesus has never been in the business of making false disciples. So he charges anyone who would make a claim to him to consider deeply the cost of following him. That cost being the renouncement of everything we use to create an identity and validation for ourselves outside of the Cross of Christ that preserves us for God. (Lk 14:25-35)
