After spending some time telling us what gospel security frees us to enjoy, Paul now comes back to the topic of security. In doing so, he shows us how to identity false teaching and how to be clear about true Christian hope and security. In summary, Paul tells us that gospel error is focused with the glory of what we can acquire and boast about concerning earthly things and Christian hope is focused entirely on what Christ has for us in heaven and what He will bring to fruition one day from heaven.
