The necessity of Jesus' sacrifice is difficult for many people to understand. The same was true for His disciples. It's no coincidence that Jesus' crucifixion occurred during the Jewish Passover celebration. As Jesus sent His disciples before Him to make the necessary preparations for the Passover meal, they were no doubt anticipating an enjoyable evening with their Lord, but that Passover celebration turned into a sober event and into the institution of a continual reminder of what Jesus has done for us. (Mk 14:12-26)
